British men are trimming down
(09/11/2009)
According to swimwear manufacturer Kiniki, there is a growing demand for swimwear that shows off a ‘maxed’ body to the full. With male swimwear styles getting skimpier by the year, an increasing number of image-conscious men are opting to go beyond the call of duty with their body hair maintenance.
“There was a time when men got squeamish about getting a ‘sack, back and crack’ done”, says John Walker of Kiniki. “Nowadays it looks like even the most macho of men is taking a no-holds-barred approach to the body beautiful. We’ve had a number of enquiries from men who have been ‘maxed’ and are looking for the best briefs to show their bodies off in. We think it’s fantastic, we’ve never been remotely shy with our swimwear styles and we are glad that they are being shown off to their best.”
Established in 1976, Kiniki has grown from a backroom business for mail order men’s underwear into a British manufacturing success story with an international client-base and more than 30 million sales under its belt.
“Celebrities such as Jay Rayner have already put the ‘max’ to the test and with even mainstream beauticians offering the service, trimming down for the beach seems to be increasingly encouraged for men as much as for women,” says Walker.
“Alton Towers have banned men from wearing Speedos because they are worried that bulky, hairy men in tight trunks will offend children. After decades of women putting themselves through gruelling waxing regimes for their bikinis I am sure they are delighted to see the hairier sex following suit.”
